Over het festival

In 2023 werd een lang gekoesterde droom van organisator René Maurer werkelijkheid: het eerste Pianofestival zag het licht en was gelijk een overrompelend succes. Bekijk hieronder de compilatie. Op veler verzoek volgt daarom in 2025 de tweede editie. 

Het Pianofestival Houten is een ‘learning experience’.
Er zijn lezingen, workshops, masterclasses en een bijzonder openingsconcert met als titel ‘Thuiskomen in de muziek’. 

Muzikale vrijheid, de kunst van het luisteren, ontmoeting, fysiek en mentaal gezond musiceren vormen de belangrijkste thema’s van het festival. 

Voor wie?

Toehoorders, amateurpianisten, professionele pianisten/docenten, conservatoriumstudenten, jong en oud. Na dit festival wil je niets anders dan pianospelen! 
Actieve deelname aan de masterclasses is geschikt voor gevorderde amateurpianisten en professionals van alle leeftijden. Ook voor toehoorders is het festival een bron van inspiratie. Het publiek zit niet de hele dag op een stoel, want iedereen kan actief meedoen aan de Feldenkraislessen (Bewust worden door bewegen). Docenten, deelnemers en publiek ontmoeten elkaar tijdens de lunch, iedere dag om 13.00 in de foyer.

Docenten en sprekers

Ook aan deze editie van het Pianofestival werken weer bijzondere docenten en sprekers mee; ieder vanuit een  eigen invalshoek.

“Muziek is een spiegel van het leven”. Precies dàt beleef je tijdens de concerten en masterclasses van Marietta Petkova, één van de festivaldocenten. Over pianist en Feldenkraisdocent Alan Fraser schreef een cursist: “Dat ik zoveel meer ging horen toen de fysieke weerstand wegviel was een openbaring”. 
Het Piano Festival Houten maakt het voor iedereen mogelijk te leren van deze twee buitengewone musici. 
Performance coach Mart Blom geeft workshops over omgaan met spanning op het podium
Documentairemaker en radiopresentator Lex Bohlmeijer presenteert ‘Muziek is een hart dat alles weet’, het boek dat hij schreef over Marietta Petkova.

Dit gouden kwartet staat garant voor een lang weekend pianistisch plezier en muzikale inspiratie.

Locatie

Het Theater Aan de Slinger in Houten is de gastvrije thuisbasis voor het festival. De evenementen vinden plaats in de grote zaal, de kleine zaal, de JTSzaal en de foyer. Op 18, 19 en 20 oktober zijn er oefenruimtes beschikbaar.

Organisatie

René Maurer is de initiatiefnemer van het Pianofestival Houten. Hij is als docent verbonden aan het Houtens Muziek Collectief en het ArtEZ Conservatorium. Naast het lesgeven deelt hij graag zijn liefde voor de muziek op het podium en organiseert hij evenementen waarin de muziek mensen met elkaar verbindt. Het Pianofestival Houten is daar het allermooiste voorbeeld van. René wordt in de organisatie bijgestaan door het Houtens Muziek Collectief en een groep vrijwilligers. About the Festival

In 2023, a long-held dream of festival organiser René Maurer became a reality: the very first Piano Festival took place and became an instant success (here you can see a compilation). Due to the resounding success of the first edition and clamouring for a second, this therefore will again take place in 2025.

The Houten Piano Festival is intended as a “learning experience”. It consists of reading presentations, workshops, masterclasses and an impressive and inspiring opening concert with the title “Feeling at home in Music”.
Musical freedom, the art of listening, coming together, healthy music making both on a physical and mental level are the overriding themes of this year’s festival.

For Whom?

Piano enthusiasts, amateur pianists, professional pianists, conservatorium students, and those of all ages. After this festival you will only want to play the piano and nothing else!

Active participation in the masterclasses is suitable for experienced amateur pianists and professionals of all ages. For piano enthusiasts who simply want to observe and experience the festival, this will be an inspiring and uplifting experience. As audience members, you are not obliged to sit down the whole day—you are actively encouraged to take part in the awareness through movement lessons (ATM, Feldenkrais). Teachers, participants and the general public are encouraged to interact with each other during lunch every day at 1pm in the foyer.

Professors (teachers) and speakers

As per the previous edition of the Festival, an impressive array of guest professors and speakers have been invited, each experts in their own field.

During the festival, you will be coached by the following extraordinary musicians:
“Music is a mirror of Life” is the inspiring theme of the masterclasses and concerts given by guest professor Marietta Petkova; the work of guest professor and Feldenkrais teacher Alan Fraser has been described by a previous Festival participant as “a liberating experience, which physically freed me and enabled me to hear so much more”.

Performance coach Mart Blom will be giving workshops about how to reduce stage nerves during performance, and documentary maker and radio presenter Lex Bohlmeijer will present his new biography of Marietta Petkova: “Music is an all-knowing heart”.

All in all, a fantastic weekend of piano pleasure and musical inspiration is guaranteed!

Location

The Theater Aan de Slinger in Houten will be generously hosting us during the Festival. The events will take place in the Grote Zaal, the Kleine Zaal, the JTS Zaal and in the Foyer. Rehearsal rooms will be available on October 18, 19 and 20.

Organisation

René Maurer is the initiator and organiser of the Piano Festival Houten. He is professor of Piano at the ArtEZ Conservatorium and the Houtens Muziek Collectief. In addition to his teaching duties, he is an active concert performer and organiser of musical events, with the ultimate goal of bringing people together with their shared love of music. The Piano Festival is a culmination of his experience and passion of his art.
